By now, you’ve taken one of our pregnancy tests and confirmed you’re actually pregnant. Unfortunately, a positive pregnancy test is just the first step. You need an ultrasound to get all of the information you need. Luckily, we offer free confidential ultrasound scanning, so let’s set up your appointment!

Why Do I Need an Ultrasound?

You’d think a positive pregnancy test is all you need, but did you know there’s a possibility your test result is wrong? According to the famous Mayo Clinic, at least 10% to 20% of known pregnancies end in a natural miscarriage. You can still get a positive test result days after a miscarriage because it takes your body time to realize you’re no longer pregnant.

In addition, if you are considering abortion, you need to find out how far along you are. The number of weeks you’ve been pregnant determines which abortion procedure you can have. Finally, there’s a possibility your pregnancy isn’t located where it should be in your body. This is very dangerous and you should see your health care provider immediately.

Now you can see why a limited obstetrical ultrasound is important. It provides all the information you need to know about your pregnancy. Schedule a free ultrasound with us.

How Does an Ultrasound Work?

An ultrasound is an imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce a visual image of the inside of your uterus. It’s a non-surgical procedure and can be done in a single appointment. Usually, a woman has an ultrasound early in her pregnancy to confirm she’s actually pregnant and again later to see if the fetus is developing normally.

Our medical technician applies a gel-like substance to your abdomen. The gel helps transmit sound waves. A hand-held device called a transducer is rubbed over the gel to record the echoes of the sound waves it picks up. It’s those echoes that create an image on a computer screen.
